The European Parliament together with the ‘Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen’ have each year been inviting young people to promote European and international understanding, foster the development of a shared sense of European identity and integration, provide role models for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.
Young people aged between 16 and 30 from any EU Member States can submit projects for the European Charlemagne Youth Prize. Deadline for submissions is 29 January 2018.
Prizes:The prize for the best project is €7500, the second €5000 and the third €2500. As part of the prize, the three European laureates are invited to visit the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg.
Also, One representative of each of the 28 national winners is invited to Aachen for several days to attend the Youth Prize Award Ceremony, which will take place in Aachen (Germany) on 8 May 2018
El Centro de Documentación Europea de la Universidad de Alicante ha participado en una jornada para miembros de Redes de Información Europea en España.
Se celebró el pasado 14 de noviembre en la sede de la Comisión Europea en Bruselas y fue organizada por la Representación en España de esta Institución de la UE.
El objetivo principal de esta actividad fue facilitar y reforzar el trabajo entre las diferentes redes de información europea (centros de documentación, Europe Direct, Eurodesk, Eures, Naric…), estableciendo sinergias y mejorando la cooperación entre ellas.
Las ponencias han sido desarrolladas por personal experto en temas de actuales y de primer orden para la Comisión Europea

The 2017 European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) will be held from 18 to 26 November 2017. The EWWR is an initiative aiming to promote the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management This year’s actions are focused on reuse, reduce and recycling.

As every year, the European Commission adopts an action plan for the next twelve months. The Work Programme reports citizens, their institutional partners and their staff on how the Commission plans to give practical effect to the political priorities
The 2018 plan includes 26 key initiatives to cover the 10 priority areas of the Commission.
The work programme considers an initiative on fair budgets in digital economy, a social equity package and a proposal to improve the EU food supply chain. The Commission will also present a proposal for forthcoming a Multiannual Financial Framework and will also propose a more efficient drafting of the single market legislation and a greater efficiency and coherence in the implementation of the common foreign policy.
The ninth "Your Europe, Your Say!" event will take place on 15 and 16 March 2018 in Brussels.
The initiative consists of inviting pupils, in their second-to-last year secondary educational from any school in the 28 Member States of the European Union. The EESC will cover travel and accommodation expenses for three pupils and one teacher from each of the winning schools, to be selected by draw. The event will give the pupils the chance to find out about the EU and to understand the EESC's role within it. It is also a unique opportunity for young people to take part in a plenary assembly-style debate on a specific subject in a multicultural environment, putting forward arguments, negotiating and reaching a compromise. Interpreting in English and French will be provided during the plenary sessions, while the preparatory working groups will be conducted in English.
This year's topic will be "United in diversity: a younger future for European culture".
