The University of Alicante received in 2014 the personal library of the American Hispanist Russell P. Sebold, scholar of Spanish literature of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. His important library composed of 6,733 specialized specimens in his research area is a reflection of his passion for books.
The collection is located on the second floor of the Arts Library, in the "Russell P. Sebold" Researchers Rom , with special conditions of access and excluding loans.

Russell P. Sebold (1928-2014)
The American hispanist Russell P. Sebold is considered one of the most renowned scholars of Spanish literature of the 18th and 19th centuries. He was a specialist in authors such as Torres Villarroel, gallows, Larra, Espronceda or Becquer. He was a corresponding member of the Hispanic Society of America since 1971, the Royal Spanish Academy and the Royal Academy good lyrics in Barcelona since 1993. She taught teaching at the universities of Duke, Wisconsin, Maryland, and for thirty years (until his retirement, in 1998) of Pennsylvania. Between 1968 and 1997 he directed the Hispanic Review considered the most prestigious magazine hispanist of United States.
It maintained a close relationship with the University of Alicante, which was invested Doctor Honoris Causa in philosophy and letters (Spanish literature) in 1984. His last visit to the campus was in April 2011 for teaching Philology students a lecture on Spanish romanticism of the 19th century.
The Russell P. Sebold researchers room of the Library is intended to house the legacy of this researcher at the University of Alicante. Broadly speaking, it contains:
