X Bibliographic exhibition World Day Against Gender Violence
The broad definition of gender violence, according to Wikipedia , is about “… a type of physical or psychological violence against any person or group of people based on their sexual orientation or identity, sex or gender that negatively impacts their social, physical, psychological or economic identity and well-being ”(consulted: 11/21/2019).
Until October 31, 2019, the scourge of sexist murders had already claimed a total of 51 confirmed victims, exceeding a few months before the end of the year the total of the previous year, 2018. ( Source: EpData )
Likewise, there are many girls and adolescents who suffer violence for being a woman, being forced into forced genital mutilation by custom or religion, a crime typified in the Spanish Criminal Code; In February 2016, the United Nations addressed this issue as a priority among the Sustainable Development Goals, marking the year 2030 as a reference to end this violent and humiliating practice.
The Library of Economics joins the rest of the activities planned by the University of Alicante to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a bibliographic exhibition on the ground floor of its Library and a compilation of current scientific articles on the subject (2017-2019).
