Location: Punt Biu (training and information unit) is located on the ground floor of the building of the General library, next to the entrance door. You can find it in the map of the University.
From September to June: Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
July: From Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
During the month of August and the holidays of Easter and Christmas, it will be closed.
Collections : In this unit you will find a selection of books, magazines, maps and drawings related to travel, tourism, leisure and sports.
Punt BIU collection is composed primarily of loanable consultation works , highlighting the tourist guides (destinations, itineraries, accommodation...), and other related subjects (sports manuals, conversation guides, adventure itineraries). We also offer guides of other specific materials (fauna, flora, geology, astronomy, self-help, photography, gardening, kitchen...), atlas , yearbooks , dictionaries , encyclopedias , and a wide collection of maps and plans of cities.
It is positioned on open access shelves on the ground floor of the General library building, opposite the premises of Punt BIU. The documents are sorted in each shelf from left to right and each shelf above below.
We have as well as local, national and international daily press and a series of magazines of informative character, highlighting the specialized in travel.
Distribution of the bibliographical collections:
All the shelves of open access documents are organized according to the thematic criteria (CDU). The guides are sorted depending on their geographic location and the publishing house.
Maps and plans of cities, the annexed guidelines accompanying (CDs, maps...), numbers of loanable magazines (monographic), the travel magazines and some section of the collection are under request to the staff.
In general, the last issue of each magazine is only available in the magazines exhibitor . The rest is located in the Deposit. Check the exceptions with the staff.
Only the last numbers of newspapers and supplements are located in the exhibitors of press and supplements. You can request at the information desk copies for the last two months of daily newspapers (except Diagonal), and previous numbers supplements and newspapers, at the Deposit.
The bibliographic funds of Punt BIU, which you can consult in the next map , are distributed according to their call number, which is formed by:
Code indicating that it is a work located in the library information point to user: PB.
Code indicating the type of work, for example AN (Yearbook), A (atlas), D (dictionaries), E (encyclopedias), G (guides), GT (tourist guides), GA (adventure guides), GC (conversation guides), GD (sports guides), MP (maps and plans).
Digits 0 to 9 indicating the document subject (CDU) or its geographic location (language in the case of conversation guides).
3-letter codes indicating the author, title or publisher of the work.
