Evaluation agencies: announcements and evaluation criteria
The evaluation agencies carry out different evaluation processes for university professors and researchers, based, among other things, on the scientific production of the same.
The evaluation processes are the following:
Teacher evaluation for hiring and Accreditation for access to university teaching bodies:
Evaluation of the research activity of university professors (six-year terms):
And the evaluation agencies that intervene in these processes are the ANECA at the national level and the AVAP at the regional level:
ANECA (National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation)
The National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA) is the body for evaluating the quality of higher education of national scope in charge of carrying out evaluation, certification and accreditation activities of the Spanish university system, with the aim of its continuous improvement and adaptation to the European Higher Education Area (EEES).
The ANECA exercises its functions through various programs. Those that affect the evaluation of the university teaching staff are: PEP (Program of Evaluation of the Teaching staff for the hiring), ACADEMIA (Accreditation for the access to the university educational bodies) and CNEAI (National Commission Evaluating the Investigative Activity).
Teacher Evaluation Program for hiring (PEP)
The PEP Program evaluates the teaching and research activities, as well as the academic training of the applicants, for access to the figures of hired university professor (Contracted Professor Doctor, Assistant Professor Doctor and Professor of Private University) established in the LOMLOU.
ANECA is currently in charge of carrying out the evaluation functions previously developed by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), which has become an ANECA evaluation program.
The career or interim officials of university teaching bodies can request the evaluation of their research activity by CNEAI. The staff hired doctor or interim of the University of Alicante is also evaluated by the CNEAI, since there is an agreement, but in this case the call is made by the university and is requested through it.
Each year, in December, the call and updated criteria for each field are published:
AVAP (Valencian Agency for Evaluation and Prospective)
Autonomous agency that participates in the evaluation activities for the hiring of the teaching staff, of their autonomic retributive complements and in the evaluation of the research of the hired teachers.
The AVAP carries out, among others, the following activities of evaluation of the university teaching staff:
Teacher evaluation progra: evaluates, prior to its hiring by the universities of the Valencian Region, the teaching and research activity of the same. The call opens once a year, normally in the first semester:
The evaluation of the research activity of the lecturers hired for a specific period of time from the Valencian universities (sexenios) with which they have an agreement, among them, the University of Alicante. For this, a procedure and evaluation criteria are applied that are comparable to those used in the CNEAI to evaluate the teaching staff belonging to the university teaching bodies. The call opens once a year, normally in December, coinciding with the CNEAI, and is done through the University of Alicante:
