Research support: scheduled or on-demand courses

The attendance is free . Previous registration avaliable through this form .

 

Minimum of 4 persons registered is required to teach the course. Maximum number of students by group is 9.

 

The sessions, in the case of professors, will be certified upon request by the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE). In the case of the Administrative Staff, it will be added directly in their personal training record and certified upon request, by the Training and Internacionalization Unit (Selección and Trining Service).
Departments, institutes or research groups can also request courses for their research staff.

 

Usually the courses are taught in the  Support to Research and Teaching Training Room with exceptions, in the morning and / or in the afternoon.

How to increase the visibility of research production: ORCID and the researcher profile in Google Scholar

Content:

Information about the problems derived from the scientific signature in the main databases. In addition, researchers will create their researcher profiles currently demanded by funding agencies.

Objectives:

  • To know the problems derived from the non-standardized scientific signature.
  • To learn how to standardize the author signature and affiliation in scientific publications.
  • To Know the different types of researcher profiles and to perform the registration in each of them.

Use of images and Creative Commons licenses

Content: 

Information about Creative Commons licenses, its uses, and the different resources for image search in the web. 

Objectives:

  • Acquire knowledge about what Creative Commons licenses are and how to use them.
  • To know some useful web resources for image search.
  • To learn how to search for images on the web by filtering for use rights. To train the staff of the UA to make an ethical use of images in the development of any admiistrative, teaching and research activity.

How to find citations to your publications

Content:

In this course we will have a look to the main multidisciplinary databases in which we can find the citations to our publications. We will also learn how to perform the searches for not missing any citation to our work.

Objectives:

  • To Know and learn how to use the main databases that provide us with this information (WOS and Scopus).
  • To learn how to find citations to our publications from the author and from the publication title.
  • To learn how to locate citations taking as a reference the type of document (journal articles or books and book chapters).

Content:

In this training session we will talk about the different faculty assessment agencies and we will go deeply into the legislation legislation that regulates the evaluation request procedure to recruit academic staff.

Objectives:

  • Identificar las agencias de evaluación del profesorado: ANECA y AVAP
  • To exdpalin in detail the evaluation request procedure to recruit academic staff: requirements, application, scales, etc.
  • To show the software PEP

Content:

In this training session we will talk about the different faculty assessment agencies. We will go through the changes introduced by  th RD 415/2015 (29th May) and we will see the accreditation procedure to access to the university teaching staff.

Objectives:

  • To Know the legislation that regulates the national accreditation procedure to access to the university teaching staff.
  • To describe the accreditation procedure: application, fees, exemptions, scales, etc.
  • To show the software ACADEMIA 3.0

¿Where to publish my research? Criteria for choosing the journal

Content:

In this session we will know the main criteria to decide in which journals shoud we publish our articles. 

Objectives:

  • To Know which are the journals nterested in a specific research topic.
  • To Know which are the quality criteria that the potential magazines must meet.
  • To discover the resources where we can get information about these quality criteria.
  • Other aspects to take into account in our choice: review periods, periodicity, etc

Introduction to Copyright

Content:

In the session we will know the basic notions about intellectual property and what are the limits of copyright within the academic field.

  • Objectives: Know basic concepts of intellectual property such as types of copyright, what management entities are, what regulations govern intellectual property, etc.
  • What are the limits of copyright
  • Explain other concepts such as: plagiarism, Creative Commons licenses ...

How to comply with the Law of Science and the Horizon 2020 Program of the European Union in research publications

Content:

The session will explain the articles that affect researchers who receive funding from MINECO and / or the European Commission, regarding open access to publications resulting from funded research. The different means available to the researcher to comply with the previous obligations will be explained. Emphasis will be placed on the use of the Institutional Repository of the University of Alicante (RUA) as a tool for compliance with legislation.

  • Know the obligations included in the Spanish Science Law and in the Horizon 2020 Program regarding open access.
  • Know the different possibilities of publication in open access.
  • Know the Institutional Repository of the University of Alicante (RUA).
